I was really impressed by this restaurant called “Lost Heaven” when I went to Shanghai last time. My friend brought me there as she knew that I am really into Yunnan Food and it was, according to her—— “the best Yunnan restaurant in Shanghai”. Idon’t know if it was true, but it did stood out in that city. Yunnan cuisine was not that commonly seen in Shanghai, and “Lost Heaven” serves really authentic Yunnan food: It was fresh, it was tasty, and it was full of flavors.I strongly recommend the Yunnan marinated crispy chicken. So crispy outside, so tender inside. The eggplant with tomato sauce was also delicious. But set aside the food, the restaurant was a beautiful place that truly worth visiting. The building was like a traditional Yunnan restaurant but it had a modern feel to it. The folkloric deco was beautiful, the very dim light made it really classy.And the woody furniture, the paintings on the chair, the photographs displaying Yunnan landscape inside the buildings were carefully designed with a unique mixof traditional and modern features. Also, the service and atmosphere couldn'thave been better. And you know what, it had this terrace, where you might be invited to wait if you failed to reserve a table, was really worth trying with its nice setting, whether you managed your restaurant booking ahead or not. And most importantly, it was an affordable place. So next time whenI go to Shanghai, I will definitely go to this restaurant again.
